Making the Most of a Blah Morning

This morning didn’t start with motivation or excitement. It started with that familiar, hard-to-shake feeling of blah—heavy, tired, and a little disconnected.

Instead of forcing myself into a run right away, I chose yoga. I let myself breathe, stretch, and slow down. The movement was gentle, grounding, and exactly what my body needed. It wasn’t about burning calories or hitting a pace; it was about reconnecting with myself.

After yoga, I attempted a few miles on the treadmill. I didn’t set expectations. I told myself I could stop at any point. One mile turned into another, and before I knew it, I had moved my body in a way that felt steady.

Training for the Boston Marathon isn’t just about the long runs and the standout workouts. It’s about showing up on the days when motivation is low and the mental battle feels louder than the physical one. It’s learning to listen to my body while still honoring my commitment to this journey.

This morning reminded me that progress doesn’t always look bold or triumphant. Sometimes it looks like yoga, a few treadmill miles, and the quiet pride that comes from choosing to show up.

Today, I’m proud of that version of me—the one who didn’t quit before starting.
